Classicist/Ancient Historian, but

Have loved fantasy all my life, thanks to Labyrinth-type films of the
80's. Got into SF mainly whilst at university.
Other connections with SF: used to run and am still involved with
Birmingham University SF Society, help out with British Fantasy Society, and
Discworld Con.
SF Likes: Star Trek, Pratchett, Gothic fantasy.
Dislikes: cyberpunk, too much SF technical jargon taking over from plot
(or lack of).
Would like to see more: cheaper cons, younger fans getting involved, films
capturing the essence of the book they are based on (e.g. LOTR)

William McCabe - Ordinary Member |
Ex Software Tech, currently running this site
Interests: Tendency for the obscure, Reads books that show up in the
"cult" sections of the shops, listens to music that came out of bargain
bins, watches TV shows on the "arty" channels and foreign (subtitled)
films and most of the stuff that everyone else knows about anyhow...
Would like to see: Life on another world or the end of this one, something
really miraculous, the real answer to everything (and it probably isn't 54
in base 13). |
